To be successful in your business, you have to believe in yourself, and have goals that take you way beyond what you currently believe is realistically possible. You have to overcome difficulties and challenges that at the start of building a business seem insurmountable.
Having a goal, or a target is necessary to give direction and focus. I find having a goal makes it a lot easier to get where you want to than aiming for the same end point without being specific. My example here would be if I have to train to run a marathon, if I have an event, then I have a SMART goal (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-bound), then I can train for it, and know I will get it done. If I don’t have a goal, I tend to do what I feel like, or have periods of high focus and achievement, and periods of laziness.
How Running Taught Me I Can Achieve Anything
Initially when I started running 3 or 4 years ago, I got bored after doing 5kms. I used to run it as fast as I could do and challenged myself to run faster. I thoughts at a push I could do 10 or 12kms.
I was talking to a friend who had done a few marathons, and he suggested that I try to run a half marathon (21kms/13 miles). I like to push myself but thought this would be hard challenge. I’d absolutely be running at the limit of my endurance and would be the longest distance that I’d be able to do. Surely. Anything more would just be insane.
I did the half marathon, and still to this day, it is the fastest that I have run it. When I finished, I thought that was hard, no idea how anyone could possibly do a full marathon. That was just beyond my ability to imagine.
Having done those distances, when I run a half marathon, it’s almost a non-event. Mentally it is now like doing a training run. Like when I used to do 5kms. Those things that seemed hard once, are now very easy.
How To Achieve Anything With Your Online Business
Coming back to our online businesses, this made me realize that consistent, and regular efforts lead to extraordinary results. We look on at those we wish to emulate but can hardly imagine being able to achieve what they do (e.g. make a million dollars in a year). If I can run and ultra-marathon, I can do anything else with that same consistent and regular effort. As can you too.
I also have training that I follow, that breaks down my overall goals of becoming a super-affiliate, into smaller achievable tasks that can be consistently performed over a relatively short period, then repeated to achieve more success, and improve upon results. I have achieve a lot in a short time, and will continue doing so, consistently, to achieve amazing results as I did by running ultra-marathons. The training from my mentor, John Thornhill, is here if you wish to do the same (the webinar is completely free, and he gives you an offer to help you achieve your goals at the end).

Have you achieved anything you didn’t think that you could, but with the same consistent approach you amazed yourself and achieved it. Was it easy or difficult to do, and did you achieve your goals sooner than expected, or not?
